About Gary

Gary and his wife Jennifer have been married for over 20 years and live in Plumas Lake with their two kids. Jennifer is a first grade teacher at Cedar Lane in Linda and their kids attend Riverside Intermediate and Wheatland Union High School. They have lived in south Yuba County for over 14 years.

Gary grew up in Napa and attended Napa Valley College before transferring to UC Davis where he earned a B.S. in Computer Science. After college, he took a job with IBM in Sacramento working on the California Child Welfare System as an Information Technology Specialist, where he remained for almost 12 years in a variety of positions. For the last 10 years, Gary has worked in Information Security at the California Department of Technology. You can find additional information about Gary’s professional experience on his LinkedIn profile.

Shortly after moving to Plumas Lake, Gary created a forum for residents to interact with each other online in order build community and share information. The forum turned out to be a catalyst for Gary’s community involvement. Based on discussions on the forum, he became interested in, and educated about, the levee upgrades underway by TRLIA. As a result, when a seat opened up on the RD784 board in July 2008, Gary applied and was appointed to the position. He served on the RD784 board for 2.5 years before deciding to successfully run for a seat on the OPUD board in response to community complaints about the district. Gary served on the OPUD board for 6 years before being elected to County Supervisor in November 2016.

Gary is passionate about being a voice for those he represents. He is well known for being an active participant in online community groups, spreading information about decisions he is involved in, answering constituent questions, and receiving community input.
