My Recent Activities (Week of 7/7)

Tuesday was a Board of Supervisors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Present proclamation to Colonel James R. Bartran II honoring his years of service.
  • Approve reappointment of Debra Coker to the Wheatland Cemetery District as Director with a term ending July 9, 2029.

I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

Additional items on my calendar included a demo for a system that would help us understand how flood insurance rates are calculated under NFIP risk-rating 2.0.  There was a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday evening that I attended, and the agenda can be found here.

This week, community events on my calendar included the Plumas Lake Walking Moai.

 

My Recent Activities (Week of 7/14)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Approval of multiple community impact grants for water supply, flood risk reduction, and watershed resiliency.

I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

  • National Association of Counties (NACo) Business Meeting [at NACo Conference]
  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Executive Committee Meeting

Additional meetings on my calendar included a ZIP Code Ad Hoc Committee meeting, a CALED Rural Economic Development Exchange reception and conference at Hard Rock, and meetings with multiple constitutents and community leaders on a variaty of topics.  At the Ad Hoc committee Supervisor Messick and I met with key department heads to understand benefits and impacts of requesting new ZIP codes and post offices in Yuba County.  There was also an OPUD Board Meeting this week (agenda) and I watched a portion of the live stream.  Updates on two OPUD-related questions I frequently hear were provided at their meeting last night; “what is the status of poo corner?” (video starts at 30:30) and “what is the status of the park in Draper Ranch?” (video starts at 21:00).

Community events on my calendar this week included the Peach Festival.  I staffed the Yuba County Board of Supervisors booth from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.

*I missed the Yuba Water Agency meeting as I was out of town for the NACo conference.

 

Looking ahead to this week 

Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Approve agreement with Flock Group Inc. for video surveillance service at ballot drop box located at Linda Fire Station No. 3 in Plumas Lake, CA,
  • Adopt resolution confirming the report of delinquent solid waste charges, and order of assessment to be placed on the property tax roll for fiscal year 2025-26.
  • Receive quarterly update from Community Development and Service Department.

*I’ll be on vacation this week and will miss the Board of Supervisors meeting and a Yuba Suter Arts Board Meeting.
