Weeks of 7/28/25 – 8/17/25

I was out of town the last two weeks and unable to draft and post my Week in Review, so this update looks back over three weeks and forward to the coming week.

My Recent Activities (Week of 7/28)

Since Tuesday was the 5th Tuesday of the month, there was neither a Board of Supervisors meeting nor a Yuba Water Agency meeting.

I had no other board or committee meetings on my calendar this week, and my schedule was fairly light, but I did have several item,s including:

  • A virtual meeting with the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks (CABT)
  • An introductory lunch with my new host commander at Beale AFB, Lt. Col John Matson of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron
  • A meeting at the Yuba County Airport to discuss ultralights at the airport
  • A lunch meeting to catch up with Alex Bumpus from Bi County Ambulance

I also gave a presentation to the Yuba-Sutter Area Builder & Developer Council at their meeting at the Northstate Building Industry (BIA) office in Roseville.  The presentation was about the residential, commercial, and infrastructure development occurring in Yuba County.

Community events on my calendar this week included the Plumas Lake Walking Moai.

My Recent Activities (Week of 8/4)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and the agenda is here.  (I was unable to attend due to an out-of-town trip to visit my daughter.)  A few highlights include:

  • Receive a presentation of a video highlighting the new Power Systems Facility in Oregon House (link to info about new facility)
  • Receive a presentation from interns on projects completed during the 2025 Summer Intern Program
  • Consider adoption of Resolution 2025-13 consenting to the recordation of two grant deeds for Assessor’s Parcel Numbers 009-221-004-000 & 009-221-005-000. (link to info about land purchase)

Other board and committee meetings on my calendar this week included:

  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Board Meeting, which we hosted at the new Yuba Water Power Systems HQ in Oregon House

The second half of this week, I headed into the Sierra Nevada with my American Leadership Forum (ALF) class for our “Wilderness Experience”.  I was gone for almost a week learning valuable leadership skills and developing a deep connection with other leaders in the Sacramento region.  I’m honored to be selected to participate in such a great leadership development program.

Community events on my calendar this week included the Holiday Market Groundbreaking in Plumas Lake, which was a huge success!  I want to thank Holiday Market Leadership, the Hilbers Team, and Nordic for their participation, and most importantly, our Yuba County Community Development team for their hard work putting the event together. Also, thank you to the Plumas Lake Community who braved the heat to come out and celebrate…several hundred people were there.
