My Recent Activities (Week of 9/29)
There was no Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting or Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting this week because it’s the 5th Tuesday.
Other board and committee meetings on my calendar included:
- National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Policy Steering Committee
- Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Land Use and Natural Resources (LUNR) Committee (agenda)
Additional meetings on my calendar this week included a meeting with the area representative for Senator Padilla, a webinar from the Institute for Local Government, an OIS briefing, lunch with Sutter County Supervisor Dan Flores, the 2025 Livability Summit hosted by Valley Vision and SACOG, a SACOG lunchtime briefing on the Capitol Area Regional Tolling Authority (CARTA), a SACOG one-day board retreat, and a California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Housing / Land Use / Transportation (HLT) committee planning committee (which I chair).
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 10/06)
Tuesday is a Yuba Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Community & Watershed Investments: Consider multiple grants and loans to the Yuba Resource Conservation District totaling over $340,000 to support watershed resilience and planning efforts.
- Infrastructure & Water Supply: Review a $504,000 grant amendment for the Hallwood Irrigation Company’s Teichert Ditch and Pipeline Conversion Project.
- Public Safety Support: Consider a $10,000 sponsorship for the 1st Responder Conferences and a Bill Shaw award amendment for the Smartsville Fire Protection District.
- Local Financial Partnerships: Presentation from River Valley Community Bank on a potential community impact investment account.
- Policy Updates: Review and update several internal policies, including Budget and Finance, Computer Use, and Equal Employment Opportunity.

- Tree Riverers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA) board meeting (agenda)
- South Yuba Transportation Improvement Authority (SYTIA) board meeting (agenda) [includes an action items related to the Beale Expressway and South Beale Rd Interchange projects: Consider Amendment No. 1 to the contract with Dokken Engineering — refining scope and reducing overall cost while advancing the Project Approval & Environmental Documents (PA&ED) phase for the Beale Expressway and Approve the Project Study Report (PSR-PDS) for the South Beale Road Railroad Grade Separation Project and authorize the next phase of environmental and design work for the new grade-separated crossing at SR-65 to improve safety and Beale AFB access.
Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a touch-base call with Napa County Supervisor Anne Contrell, the UCD Student and Policy Center Speaker Series: Xavier Becerra, agenda review for the next board of supervisors meeting, a Yuba County briefing with Jim Salegui, a meeting with a field representative from Senator Padilla’s office, and an ALF session.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba County Be Prepared Fair on Flood Awareness and possibly the Taste of Yuba Sutter.

- Rio Del Oro Harvest Festival on Friday, October 24th, from 5 pm to 8 pm
- Plumas Lake Community Cleanup on Saturday, October 25th (FB event)
- Wild West Saloon Fundraiser for South Yuba Recreation Volunteer Association on Saturday, November 1st at 6 pm at the Wheatland Community Center (FB event)
