My Recent Activities (Week of 10/06)
Tuesday was a Yuba Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Community & Watershed Investments: Consider multiple grants and loans to the Yuba Resource Conservation District totaling over $340,000 to support watershed resilience and planning efforts.
- Infrastructure & Water Supply: Review a $504,000 grant amendment for the Hallwood Irrigation Company’s Teichert Ditch and Pipeline Conversion Project.
- Public Safety Support: Consider a $10,000 sponsorship for the 1st Responder Conferences and a Bill Shaw award amendment for the Smartsville Fire Protection District.
- Local Financial Partnerships: Presentation from River Valley Community Bank on a potential community impact investment account.
- Policy Updates: Review and update several internal policies, including Budget and Finance, Computer Use, and Equal Employment Opportunity.

- South Yuba Transportation Improvement Authority (SYTIA) board meeting (agenda) [includes an action items related to the Beale Expressway and South Beale Rd Interchange projects: Consider Amendment No. 1 to the contract with Dokken Engineering — refining scope and reducing overall cost while advancing the Project Approval & Environmental Documents (PA&ED) phase for the Beale Expressway and Approve the Project Study Report (PSR-PDS) for the South Beale Road Railroad Grade Separation Project and authorize the next phase of environmental and design work for the new grade-separated crossing at SR-65 to improve safety and Beale AFB access.
Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a touch-base call with Napa County Supervisor Anne Contrell, the UCD Student and Policy Center Speaker Series: Xavier Becerra, an agenda review for the next board of supervisors meeting, a Yuba County briefing with Jim Salegui, a meeting with a local student about a service project, and an ALF session.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba County Be Prepared Fair on Flood Awareness.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 10/13)
Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Public Safety & Health Services: Approve new and extended contracts for inmate medical and mental-health care, residential treatment programs, and maternal/child health funding.
- Facilities & Infrastructure Projects: Progress on the Yuba County Library renovation, Sheriff’s Medical & Mental Health Facility, and new audible alarm planning project for emergency preparedness.
- Community Partnerships & Appointments: Several appointments to boards and commissions, including Reclamation District 784, Community Services Commission, and Agency on Aging Advisory Council.
- Proclamation & Recognition Items: Honoring Senior Airman Demanthi Bowman from Beale AFB, recognizing Habitat for Humanity’s rural housing work, and presenting an award from PRISM for active-shooter training excellence.
- Policy & Governance: Discussion and vote on a letter opposing Proposition 50, and nomination of Yuba County’s CSAC representative for 2026.

There is a Wheatland City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening (agenda) and an OPUD Board meeting scheduled for Thursday evening (agenda).
Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town and unable to make the SACOG and Yuba Sutter Transit meetings.

I expect I’ll be unable to make a “Week in Review” post next weekend, so I wanted to give a glimpse at my schedule for the week of 10/20.
