My Recent Activities (Week of 10/27)
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Housing & Community Development: Consider multiple housing-related items, including over $1.6 million in grant funding through the Permanent Local Housing Allocation Program (PLHA) and continued partnerships with Habitat for Humanity and Yes to Startups to support affordable housing and small business growth.
- Public Health & Safety: Approve several healthcare and public safety agreements, including mental health and substance-use treatment services, tuberculosis prevention programs, and law enforcement equipment installations.
- Economic & Workforce Development: Support Operation Green Light for Veterans, approve updates to the District Priorities Fund Policy (allocating up to $10,000 per district), and adopt a new Event Sponsorship Policy to guide community partnerships.
- Infrastructure & Facilities: Approve design service contracts for the 14Forward Project and Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus, and authorize land purchases and project completions for key road and infrastructure projects, including Plumas Lake Boulevard Phase II and Hammonton-Smartsville Road.
- Recognition & Reports: Present proclamations honoring Tina Taylor’s service, recognizing Yuba-Sutter Habitat for Humanity, and celebrating Yuba County’s membership in the AARP Age-Friendly Network
Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a DWR fall readiness event, a discussion with a Mendocino County supervisor about PG&E divestment, a Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) legislative update, and a presentation on the south county infrastructure at a Wheatland City Council meeting (agenda).
Community events on my calendar this week include the groundbreaking for the Plumas Lake Middle School, the Community Flood Risk Awareness Town Hall, the Habitat Rural Rally Closing Ceremony, and the Wheatland Trunk or Treat.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 11/03)
Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. (Note, due to the election, the meeting is at the Yuba Water HQ on F St rather than at the Government Center.) Highlights include:
- Community Partnerships: Receive a presentation from the North Yuba Water District highlighting progress on multiple Yuba Water Agency grant-funded projects supporting water reliability and local infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Resilience: Review an update on the New Bullards Bar Tunnel Outage project, a major maintenance and reliability effort critical to the agency’s power generation and water delivery systems.
- Public Awareness & Branding: Hear results from the 2025 community awareness and branding survey, assessing public understanding of Yuba Water’s mission, programs, and local impact.
- Resource Sharing: Consider adoption of a resolution authorizing the transfer of a surplus dump truck to the Browns Valley Irrigation District for continued local use.
- Regulatory Proceedings: Closed session updates on ongoing FERC relicensing for the Yuba River Development Project and State Water Resources Control Board matters, including the Bay-Delta Plan and Accord Extension proceedings.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an evening with the Capital Caucus hosted by the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) and an American Leadership Forum (ALF) monthly session.
I do not have any community events on my calendar this week, but Tuesday is Election Day. Thank you to all the poll workers and other volunteers who ensure our voice can be heard.
