Weeks of 11/17/25 – 12/01/25

My Recent Activities (Week of 11/17)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Financial & Administrative Items:  Review financial statements for the General Fund and Power Systems Fund for September 2025, and approve minutes from the October 21 and November 4 board meetings.
  • CalPERS Retirement Contract Amendment (Final Action):  Consider adoption of a resolution to remove the membership exclusion for the General Counsel position, completing the required CalPERS contract amendment process.
  • Community Event Sponsorships:  Consider approving $7,500 in event sponsorship support for the City of Marysville’s Christmas Parade, 4th of July Fireworks, and the Peach Festival, as part of Yuba Water’s community partnership efforts.
  • Lower Yuba River Accord – Long-Term Water Transfer Program:  Consider authorizing execution of Amendment No. 8 to extend and update multi-agency water transfer agreements through 2050, supporting statewide water reliability while protecting Yuba County benefits.
  • Invasive Mussel Prevention / Recreation Protection:  Receive update and consider a $3 million budget increase to continue the Watercraft Screening Plan at New Bullards Bar Reservoir through December 2026, helping prevent invasive species introduction and protect water and power infrastructure.

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 11/24)

Given the Thanksgiving holiday, my schedule this week is extremely light.  We don’t have a Board of Supervisors meeting, and I currently only have two meetings on my calendar:  a lunch with Congressman Thompson and a Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Conservation Task Force meeting.

Looking ahead to the week after Thanksgiving (Week of 12/1)

Due to the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) conference, which I will be attending, there will not be a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting this week.  As part of the conference, I will represent Yuba Water at an ACWA JPIA board meeting.  I also plan to attend ACWA committee meetings and the general session at the conference.

The week after Thanksgiving is also the annual California State Association of Counties (CSAC) conference.  I’ll be attending the second half of the conference (due to responsibilities at the ACWA conference earlier in the week), will participate in the Rural Caucus meeting, chair the Housing / Land Use / Transportation (HLT) Committee, and attend additional conference sessions.    While at the conference, I’ll participate remotely in the monthly National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Policy Steering Committee meeting.   I also have an American Leadership Forum (ALF) monthly session scheduled for this week, which I plan to attend if I’m back from CSAC in time.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Wheatland Christmas Street Fair.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you!
