My Recent Activities (Week of 2/2)
Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- We heard results from a Yuba Water–funded study with The Nature Conservancy examining forest health and large-tree patterns in the North Yuba Watershed — work that supports wildfire resilience and long-term watershed sustainability. (press release)
- The Board received an update on efforts to secure a long-term extension of the Yuba Accord, a foundational agreement that balances water supply, environmental protections, and downstream reliability. (press release)
- We approved a $3.0 million grant to Olivehurst Public Utility District to complete final design and permitting for the Wheatland-to-OPUD wastewater line — a key project supporting water quality, operational reliability, and future growth readiness. (press release)

Community events on my calendar this week include a Mix & Mingle for Blue Zones Yuba Sutter and a celebration of Marysville’s 175th birthday!
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 2/9)
Tuesday will be a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Health, Human Services & Community Well-Being: Approve multiple health and human services items, including medical education scholarships, substance-use disorder assessment services, population health needs assessment funding, and receive a quarterly Health & Human Services update.
- Transportation, Airport & Infrastructure Actions: Authorize the Airport Manager to apply for and administer FAA grants for capital improvement projects, adopt updated Caltrans consultant selection procedures, and approve an amendment for engineering and construction support on the East Linda Gateway / Lindhurst Corridor Revitalization Project.
- Governance, Appointments & Regional Representation: Make several appointments and reappointments to regional and county boards, including the Feather River Air Quality Management District, Agency on Aging, Historic Resource Commission, Community Services Commission, and the Yuba County Law Library Board of Trustees.
- County Policies & State Advocacy: Consider updates to the Yuba County Administrative Policy and Procedures Manual and approve a letter opposing the elimination of statewide Medi-Cal Mobile Crisis benefits.
- Presentations & Closed Session: Receive a presentation from Chico’s Pallet Shelter, hear the quarterly HHS update, and conduct closed-session discussions related to litigation and liability claims involving the County.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a meeting with the state to talk about the Gray’s Beach area, a SACOG agenda review meeting, a discussion with county staff about the Plumas Lake CDP boundary, a screening of the Yuba Water Agency film The Day the Levee Broke, and an RCRC-hosted meet and greet with gubinatorial candidate Tom Steyer, and an American Leadership Forum (ALF) monthly session. There is also a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday evening (agenda)
Community events on my calendar this week include the 2025 California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Awards Dinner in Sacramento and the 9th Reconnaissance Wing awards ceremony at Beale AFB.
