My Recent Activities (Week of 1/19)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Agency Elections & Governance: Call for the June 2, 2026, election for the South Division Director seat, consolidate future Agency elections with countywide elections, and update authorized signers following the selection of the 2026 Board Chair.
  • Committee & Regional Appointments: Appoint Board members to standing and ad hoc committees, the Yuba Levee Financing Authority, the Yuba Water Construction Authority, and key statewide water associations for 2026.
  • Daguerre Point Nature-Like Fishway Project: Consider approving a Project Agreement with the Yuba Water Construction Authority to advance construction of the Daguerre Point Nature-Like Fishway using the construction-manager-at-risk (CMAR) delivery method.
  • Infrastructure Delivery & Project Oversight: Authorize the next steps in using the CMAR procurement approach for major Agency projects, aimed at reducing risk, improving efficiency, and maintaining Agency oversight of costs and outcomes.
  • Routine Agency Business: Approve consent items, including prior meeting minutes, and receive Manager and Director reports on ongoing Agency operations and priorities.

At the RCRC meeting, I was honored to be appointed to the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Ad Hoc committee, and at the GSFA meeting, I was re-appointed to the GSCA Financing Action Team.  As previously announced, I’ll be serving on the executive committee for RCRC, GSCA, and GSFA for 2026 & 2027, representing Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Lake, Colusa, Yolo, Sutter, and Yuba Counties.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Conservation task force meeting, the RCRC Rural Leadership Awards Reception, a meeting with Hicamp, a National Association of Counties (NACo) West Region monthly meeting, and a lunch meeting with a constituent.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba Sutter Chamber Ribbon Cutting for the Hop Riot in Wheatland and the Memorial Service for Congressman LaMalfa.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 1/26)

Tuesday will be a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Health, Human Services & Community Programs:  Approve agreements supporting school-based wellness centers, maternal, child and adolescent health, substance-use treatment services, and Narcan dispensing vending machines to expand access to care and prevention countywide.
  • Infrastructure, Transportation & Safety Planning:  Adopt an update to the Yuba-Sutter Regional Safety Action Plan, close out a CDBG Audible Alarm planning grant, and ratify contract change orders for the Library Renovation Project.
  • Public Safety & Emergency Services:  Consider MOUs with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and 4 Paws 2 Freedom (Peer Support K-9 program), receive an update on the bi-county ambulance exclusive operating area, and approve public safety-related contracts and reports.
  • Housing, Economic Development & County Assets:  Authorize release of an RFP for affordable multifamily housing using PLHA funds, approve airport hangar lease agreements, and take action on surplus county property.
  • Governance, Appointments & Community Updates:  Make appointments to county boards and commissions, adopt an Event Sponsorship Policy, hear updates from the Sutter-Yuba Homeless Consortium and Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, and present community recognitions and proclamations.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a breakfast meeting with a constituent, a lunch meeting with community development leadership, a quarterly Community Health Improvement Plan update briefing, a meeting with BCAG to talk about proposed bus service between Chico and Sacramento with stops in Marysville and Plumas Lake.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Seniors on the Go Lunch Meeting in Olivehurst and possibly volunteering for the Section Conference at Wheatland High School.
