My Recent Activities (Week of 8/17)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Levee Monitoring Research – Receive a presentation on an innovative research partnership with the UC Berkeley Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) exploring the use of LiDAR and other sensing technologies to monitor levee movement and improve long-term flood protection.  [read more here and watch the presentation here @ 1:47]
  • Colgate Penstock Recovery – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repair work progresses.
  •  Agency Operations – Consider declaring an aging agency-owned forklift as surplus and authorizing its disposal.

  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)
  • Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA) Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)
  • Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an RCRC pre-board meeting dinner, a CSAC Board of Directors reception, a catch-up meeting with the RCRC policy advocate Eric Will, a SACOG Transit MOU meeting, a meeting with a vendor, a SACOG briefing on SB 1087, and meetings with two constituents.

On Wednesday night, there was a Yuba County Planning Commission meeting, and you can find the agenda here.  On Thursday night, there was an OPUD board of directors meeting, and you can find that agenda here.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and opening ceremonies for the Yuba Sutter Stand Down.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 8/24)

Tuesday will be a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Community Resilience Grant Opportunity – Consider authorizing an application for California Strategic Growth Council funding to support future Community Resilience Centers throughout Yuba County.
  • Library & County Facilities – Consider change orders for the Yuba County Library Renovation Project, release an RFP for demolition of the former Tri-County Juvenile Hall, and approve updates to the County’s public infrastructure standard plans.
  • Youth & Public Health Programs – Consider several agreements with Youth for Change supporting home visiting, family support, and supervised visitation services, along with accepting state funding for public health and tuberculosis prevention programs.
  • Wildfire Liability Advocacy – Consider ratifying the County’s support of statewide local government organizations opposing proposed wildfire liability reforms that could limit public agencies’ ability to recover damages from utility-caused wildfires.
  • Agriculture & Local Economy – Receive an update from the Bi-County Farm Advisory on issues affecting agriculture in Yuba and Sutter counties.

  • Yuba Water Board Policy Ad Hoc Committee

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a meeting about the South County wastewater project, coffee with the Yuba County public works director, a webinar on the role of pricing in California’s Transportation Future, and an RCRC legislative briefing.

Community events on my calendar this week include the groundbreaking for the Gold Runner Route 5 (Redding to Sac) in Redding, an AD3 & CD4 Candidate Forum, the Holiday Market Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening, and possibly the Sutter Buttes Land Trust Calendar Reception.

  • August 25th, 6 pm:  Assembly District 3 & Congressional District 4 Candidate Forum at Yuba County Government Center (FB event)
  • August 28th:  Holiday Market Plumas Lake Grand Opening
  • September 17th, 4 pm:  Public Hearing for Yuba Sutter Transit Proposed Lincoln/Roseville Service at Yuba County Government Center
  • October 3rd:  Plumas Lake Oktoberfest at Eufay Wood Park
  • October 8th, 3:30 pm to 7 pm:  Yuba County Be Prepared Fair, Eufay Wood Park in Plumas Lake
  • October 17th, morning:  Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
  • October 24th, 7 pm:  Plumas Lake Halloween Parade (starting at Rio Del Oro Elementary (FB group)
  • October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm:  Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village
