My Recent Activities (Week of 8/24)
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Community Resilience Grant Opportunity – Consider authorizing an application for California Strategic Growth Council funding to support future Community Resilience Centers throughout Yuba County.
- Library & County Facilities – Consider change orders for the Yuba County Library Renovation Project, release an RFP for demolition of the former Tri-County Juvenile Hall, and approve updates to the County’s public infrastructure standard plans.
- Youth & Public Health Programs – Consider several agreements with Youth for Change supporting home visiting, family support, and supervised visitation services, along with accepting state funding for public health and tuberculosis prevention programs.
- Wildfire Liability Advocacy – Consider ratifying the County’s support of statewide local government organizations opposing proposed wildfire liability reforms that could limit public agencies’ ability to recover damages from utility-caused wildfires.
- Agriculture & Local Economy – Receive an update from the Bi-County Farm Advisory on issues affecting agriculture in Yuba and Sutter counties.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include several meetings about the South County wastewater project, a coffee with the Yuba County public works director, a meeting with a constituent, a meeting between Yuba County and the Plumas Lake Little League, and a webinar on the role of pricing in California’s Transportation Future.

Community events on my calendar this week included the groundbreaking for the Gold Runner Route 5 (Redding to Sac) in Redding, an AD3 & CD4 Candidate Forum, and the Holiday Market Ribbon Cutting.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 8/31)
Tuesday will be a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- RD 784 Levee Improvement Project – Receive a presentation on the successful completion of the Levee Storm Drain Pipe Replacements Project, funded through a $4.5 million Yuba Water grant. The project improved the integrity of the Horseshoe rural levee system and was completed approximately $840,000 under budget, with the remaining funds returned to the Agency.
- Daguerre Point Nature-like Fishway – Receive an update on the Construction Manager at Risk contract and consider early procurement of locally available riprap, a change expected to save the project approximately $500,000 while supporting fish passage, water supply reliability, and flood protection.
- Colgate Penstock Recovery – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repair work progresses.
- Agency Operations – Receive the General Manager’s report and Director’s reports on current Agency activities.
- Closed Session – Conduct the annual performance evaluation of the General Manager and discuss pending litigation.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a meeting about the South County wastewater project, lunch with Yuba County community development leadership, a Yuba County Community Health Improvement Plan annual meeting, a legislative update call from RCRC, and the Arboga Elementary Candidate Forum.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and a welcome reception for the interim Yuba College president.

- September 17th, 4 pm: Public Hearing for Yuba Sutter Transit Proposed Lincoln/Roseville Service at Yuba County Government Center
- October 3rd: Plumas Lake Oktoberfest at Eufay Wood Park
- October 8th, 3:30 pm to 7 pm: Yuba County Be Prepared Fair, Eufay Wood Park in Plumas Lake
- October 17th, morning: Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
- October 24th, 7 pm: Plumas Lake Halloween Parade (starting at Rio Del Oro Elementary (FB group)
- October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm: Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village
