My Recent Activities (Week of 9/7)
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- FY 2026-27 Adopted Budget – Hold a public hearing and consider adoption of Yuba County’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget, including funding for county operations, reserves, capital projects, and internal services.
- Transportation & Infrastructure – Consider funding applications for the Fleming Way Bike/Pedestrian Safety Project through SACOG and award a construction contract for the 2026 Emergency Culvert Replacement Project.
- Housing & Community Development – Consider applying for California’s Prohousing Designation Program to strengthen Yuba County’s competitiveness for future housing and infrastructure grant opportunities.
- Community Services & Public Safety – Receive a presentation from the Yuba Sutter Legal Center, recognize participants and coaches from the 2026 Special Olympics Northern California Division, and approve a federal Justice Assistance Grant supporting regional intelligence and dispatch center improvements.
- County Operations – Adopt the annual countywide property tax rates and special district tax rates for Fiscal Year 2026-27 and consider several appointments to local advisory committees.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include the We Prosper Together Catalyst Summit, coffee with the CEO of Harmony Health, a SACOG agenda review, a meet and greet with RCRC leadership and a candidate for insurance commissioner (Jane Kim), a meeting with a school board candidate to talk about school facility financing options, an A’s game with RCRC leadership and members of the Canadian consulate, and and a strategic planning session for tobacco-related priorities. There was a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday evening, and you can find the agenda here.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 9/14)
Tuesday will be a Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Colgate Penstock Recovery – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repair work progresses.
- Procurement & Contracting Presentation – Receive a presentation explaining Yuba Water’s procurement laws and contracting process, including competitive bidding requirements, contractor readiness, and how the Agency determines best value.
- Board Governance Updates – Consider revisions to Board policies governing Director compensation, expense reimbursement, and the Rules for Proceedings of the Board of Directors following review by the Board Policy Review Ad Hoc Committee.
- Financial Update – Review the Agency’s General Fund and Power Systems financial statements through May 2026.
- Agency Business – Receive the General Manager’s report, Director reports, and convene in closed session to discuss matters related to the State Water Resources Control Board Bay/Delta Plan proceedings.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include lunch with Yuba County CDSA leadership, an AMPO conference reception, a Yuba Water Agency Employee Recognition luncheon, and a status update meeting on the Yuba Applied Research Center (YARC). Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and the Air Force Ball.

- October 8th, 3:30 pm to 7 pm: Yuba County Be Prepared Fair, Eufay Wood Park in Plumas Lake
- October 17th, morning: Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
- October 24th, 7 pm: Plumas Lake Halloween Parade (starting at Rio Del Oro Elementary (FB group)
- October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm: Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village
