My Recent Activities (Week of 9/14)
Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Colgate Penstock Recovery – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repair work progresses.
- Procurement & Contracting Presentation – Receive a presentation explaining Yuba Water’s procurement laws and contracting process, including competitive bidding requirements, contractor readiness, and how the Agency determines best value.
- Board Governance Updates – Consider revisions to Board policies governing Director compensation, expense reimbursement, and the Rules for Proceedings of the Board of Directors following review by the Board Policy Review Ad Hoc Committee.
- Financial Update – Review the Agency’s General Fund and Power Systems financial statements through May 2026.
- Agency Business – Receive the General Manager’s report, Director reports, and convene in closed session to discuss matters related to the State Water Resources Control Board Bay/Delta Plan proceedings.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include lunch with Yuba County CDSA leadership, an AMPO conference reception, a Yuba Water Agency Employee Recognition luncheon, and a status update meeting on the Yuba Applied Research Center (YARC). There was also an OPUD board of directors meeting on Thursday evening, and you can find the agenda here.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and the Air Force Ball.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 9/21)
Tuesday will be a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Measure K Annual Report – Receive the Fiscal Year 2025-26 annual report from the Measure K Citizens’ Oversight Committee, providing an update on the use and oversight of Measure K revenues.
- Housing & Homelessness – Consider a joint application for California’s Homekey+ Program to help expand housing opportunities and supportive services for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Emergency Response & Public Safety – Consider implementation of an Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) program for the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center, along with agreements supporting emergency animal sheltering during disasters and supplemental law enforcement services at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Toyota Amphitheatre.
- Community Recognition & Agriculture – Recognize National Service Dog Month, National 4-H Week, and receive updates from the Sutter-Yuba 4-H program and the Bi-County Farm Advisory.
- Health & County Operations – Consider several state public health grants supporting maternal, child, adolescent, and home visiting programs, continue the local emergency related to the Colgate Penstock failure, and approve the FY 2026-27 County Position Allocation Schedule.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a CSAC county platform update meeting and the RCRC annual meeting in Santa Barbara (Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening). There is also a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday evening, and you can find the agenda here.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, Plumas Lake Flag Football Opening Ceremonies, the National Pumpkin Weigh Off, and the Pumpkin Weigh Off awards dinner.

- October 8th, 3:30 pm to 7 pm: Yuba County Be Prepared Fair, Eufay Wood Park in Plumas Lake
- October 17th, morning: Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
- October 24th, 7 pm: Plumas Lake Halloween Parade (starting at Rio Del Oro Elementary (FB group)
- October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm: Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village
