Week of 5/12/25

My Recent Activities

Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. The agenda included multiple items of interest to District 4 residents, including:

  • Award contract to the apparent low, responsive, and responsible bidder, Pavement Coatings Company, for the 2025 CSA Resurfacing Project in Plumas Lake.
  • Hold public hearing and approve County Service Area (CSA) assessment summary for fiscal year 2025-2026.
  • Approve the release of a request for proposals for a digital billboard ground lease on County-owned land in Plumas Lake.
  • Approve two (2) reappointments to Plumas Lake Specific Plan Design Review Committee.
  • Approve amendment No. 1 to the professional services agreement with Apex Enterprises, Inc. for the Yuba County emergency wood pile reduction and fire risk mitigation project.
  • Approve support letter regarding federal funding for essential safety net programs.

I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Land Use and Natural Resources (LUNR) Committee (agenda)
  • Yuba-Sutter Transit Board of Directors meeting (agenda)

Additional items on my calendar included a  SACOG Strategic Planning Committee, a NACo Rural Action Caucus meeting, a NACo West Region meeting, and a meeting about a proposal for a National Infrastructure Bank (NIB).  Unfortunately, I’ll missed all of them except the NIB meeting due to:

  • Attending an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Orientation on Monday and Tuesday (I’m honored to be selected to participate in ALF Class XXX over the next year)
  • Attending the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Fall Conference on Tuesday through Thursday.

Tuesday night was a Wheatland City Council meeting (agenda) and Thursday night was an OPUD Board of Directors meeting (agenda)

This week, community events on my calendar include the Wheatland Pet Parade and the When Pigs Fly Fundraiser Dinner for the Yuba Sutter Sheriff’s Aero Squadron.

 

Looking ahead to this week 

Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Consider approval to amend Reclamation District 2103’s grant for the Grasshopper Slough Certification Repairs for an extension (to June 30, 2026) and for additional funding (increasing the grant amount by $639,956, from $495,000 to a total of $1,134,956).
  • Consider approval of a grant for the Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA) of $1,165,000 for the Horseshoe Levee Basin Problem Identification Report project that will include review of existing and new data to evaluate flood risk and deficiencies to support a consistent level of protection for eventual FEMA certification.
  • Receive the annual Dam Safety update by Tim Truong, Chief Dam Safety Engineer.

  • Yuba Water Agency Project Operations & Development (POD) Committee (agenda)
  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) Ad-Hoc Committee
  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Executive Committee Meeting
  • Yuba Sutter Transit Special Board Meeting

Additional items on my calendar include talking to the scouts about the importance of the Constitution, a touch-base lunch with Yuba County community development, meeting with a constituent, agenda setting for the next board of supervisors meeting, a Marysville vs Yuba County Public Works Picnic, and a Blue Zones steering committee.

Tuesday night is a Wheatland City Council General Plan meeting (agenda)

This week, community events on my calendar include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, opening night for the High Wheelers, and a Cal Poly to Fork Dinner.
