My Recent Activities
Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:
- Consider approval to amend Reclamation District 2103’s grant for the Grasshopper Slough Certification Repairs for an extension (to June 30, 2026) and for additional funding (increasing the grant amount by $639,956, from $495,000 to a total of $1,134,956).
- Consider approval of a grant for the Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA) of $1,165,000 for the Horseshoe Levee Basin Problem Identification Report project that will include review of existing and new data to evaluate flood risk and deficiencies to support a consistent level of protection for eventual FEMA certification.
- Receive the annual dam safety update from Tim Truong, chief dam safety engineer.
I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- Yuba Water Agency Project Operations & Development (POD) Committee (agenda)
- Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) Ad-Hoc Committee
- USPS AdHoc Committee to talk about ZIP Codes and Post Offices in Yuba County
- Yuba Sutter Transit Special Board Meeting
Additional items on my calendar include talking to the scouts about the Constitution’s importance and my role as a Supervisor, a webinair on the impacts of federal imigration policy on local governments, setting the agenda for the next board of supervisors meeting, a Marysville vs. Yuba County Public Works Picnic, a touch base with our AT&T representative on COLR and other topics, and a Blue Zones steering committee.
This week, community events on my calendar included the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, opening night for the High Wheelers, and a Cal Poly to Fork Dinner at Bishops to support the Yuba Applied Research Center (YARC), and the placement of flags and crosses on veteraans’ graves at the Wheatland Cemetery for Memorial Day.
Looking ahead to this week
Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:
- Approve the 2024–26 CalWORKs System Improvement Plan to better support families on their path to self-sufficiency
- Disburse over $1.3 million in Measure D funds for local road maintenance in Yuba County, Marysville, and Wheatland
- Reallocate funds to strengthen the Probation K9 Detection Program
- Advance major public works projects in Olivehurst and rural culvert systems to improve climate resiliency
- Approve agreements to sustain victim services and implement the Whole Child Model for medically vulnerable youth
- Adopt Yuba County’s SB1-funded road project list for FY 2025–26
I have several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board Meeting (agenda)
- Yuba Sutter Arts Board of Directors [can’t attend due to conflict]
Additional items on my calendar include a Yuba County Service Awards luncheon, an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Welcome Reception, SACOG Inclusion Training, a SACOG Transit lunch and learn, a National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Committee Highway Subcommittee + Leadership policy resolution review call, and coffee with a constituent.
This week, community events on my calendar include ribbon cuttings for Yuba Sutter Transit’s new Mobility on Demand (MOD) Service and an Outdoor Fitness Court at Yuba College.
