My Recent Activities
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:
- Approve the 2024–26 CalWORKs System Improvement Plan to better support families on their path to self-sufficiency
- Disburse over $1.3 million in Measure D funds for local road maintenance in Yuba County, Marysville, and Wheatland
- Reallocate funds to strengthen the Probation K9 Detection Program
- Advance major public works projects in Olivehurst and rural culvert systems to improve climate resiliency
- Approve agreements to sustain victim services and implement the Whole Child Model for medically vulnerable youth
- Adopt Yuba County’s SB1-funded road project list for FY 2025–26
I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board Meeting (agenda and video recording). We took several significant actions, including the Release of the Draft 2025 Blueprint and Environmental Impact Report for two months of public comment, adopting 10 mobility zones across the six-county region, including two in Yuba County, and a workshop on the potential of on-demand micro transit.

Additional items on my calendar included a Yuba County Service Awards luncheon, an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Welcome Reception, SACOG Inclusion Training, a SACOG lunch and learn about transit funding, an Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Legislative legislative update call, a National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Committee Highway Subcommittee + Leadership policy resolution review call, and coffee meetings with several community members.
This week, community events on my calendar included a ribbon cutting for Yuba Sutter Transit’s new Mobility on Demand (MOD) Service.
Looking ahead to this week
Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:
- Consider approving the following for Yuba Water local grant matches for the following Yuba County projects: 1) amended grant for the Olivehurst Roadway Climate Resiliency 2023 LTCAP Project.
- Consider approval of grants for a total amount up to $619,765 under the Community Impact Grant and Loan Program Policy for the March 2025 application window
I have several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority (TRLIA). The agenda contains several key items including approval of the FY 25/26 budget, approve a contract with All City Patrol, for patrol services within the Feather River Setback Area (FRSBA), and approve a memorandum of understanding with Yuba County Sheriff’s Department for funding of three (3) Flock Camaras in the Feather River Setback Area (FSBRA).
- South Yuba Transportation Improvement Authority (SYTIA). The agenda contains several key items, including receiving a project status update on Plumas Lake Boulevard Phase II and approving the Budget for Fiscal Year 2025/2026, which includes $2.3M for right-of-way acquisition for Plumas Lake Boulevard Phase II, $1.5M to start environmental studies and project approvals for the South Beale Rd Interchange, and $500k for early stage environmental work on the Beale Expressway.
- Northern California Water Agency (NCWA) Board of Directors meeting.
- Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) AdHoc committee meeting
Additional items on my calendar include reviewing the agenda for the next Board of Supervisors meeting, a virtual meeting about tariffs, and a lunch-time touch base with Yuba County CDSA leadership. I will attend the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) board retreat from Wednesday evening through Friday afternoon. I’m honored to serve on a panel at the retreat with Mark Birtha from Hard Rock and Supervisor Flores from Sutter County titled “Building the Future: Yuba Sutter’s Plan for Growth and Opportunity. This session explores the region’s vision as a dynamic hub in the Northern Sacramento Valley. With significant developments like Enterprise Rancheria’s expansion near Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sacramento, Yuba-Sutter is poised to become a premier destination for entertainment, retail, and economic investment. This session will highlight long-term planning efforts, regional partnerships, and the ecosystem driving sustainable growth and opportunity in the area. Due to the GSEC retreat, I will be unable to attend the NACo Transportation Committee and SACOG Land Use and Natural Resources (agenda) meetings scheduled for this week.
