Weeks of 6/30/25 & 7/7/25

My Recent Activities

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Receive a presentation regarding the opportunity to invest in a community-focused loan program with Five Star Bank.
  • Receive a presentation on the Yuba Water grant-supported project for the Hallwood Canal Lining Pilot Study
  • Consider waiving the annual 2.5% rate increase associated with surface water deliveries to the Member Units

I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

  • Yuba Water Agency POD Committee (agenda – consider recommendation to approve multiple grants for local agencies related to water supply management, flood risk reduction, and watershed resilience).

Additional items on my calendar include a retirement ceremony for Beale AFB vice-commander Col Bartra, a meeting and greet BBQ for our new veterans’ service officer, an agenda review for the next board of supervisors meeting, a lunch to touch-base with Yuba County community development leadership, a California State Association of Counties (CSAC) webinar on the state budget, and a meeting to discuss a NACo transportation policy resolution about establishing a National Infrastructure Bank,

This week, community events on my calendar include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, the Plumas Lake 4th of July Kids Parade, and the Wheatland 4th of July BBQ.

Looking ahead to this week

Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. A few highlights from the agenda include:

  • Present proclamation to Colonel James R. Bartran II honoring his years of service.
  • Approve reappointment of Debra Coker to the Wheatland Cemetery District as Director with a term ending July 9, 2029.

I have several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:

Additional items on my calendar include a demo for a system that would help us understand how flood insurance rates are calculated under NFIP risk-rating 2.0.  There is a Wheatland City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening, and the agenda can be found here.

Over the second half of this week, the weekend, and the first half of next week, I’ll be attending the NACo Annual Meeting.  In addition to the typical conference sessions, I’ll be participating in the Transportation Policy Steering Committee meeting to shape transportation-related policy advocacy at the federal level and representing Yuba County at the annual NACo business meeting.
