Weeks of 9/08/25 & 9/15/25

My Recent Activities (Week of 9/08)

Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Hold a Public hearing and receive a presentation from the County Administrator’s Office on the Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. (video at 42:50)
  • Approve Board of Supervisors responses to the recommendations made in the 2024/25 Yuba County Grand Jury Report.
  • Receive a special presentation from the Office of Emergency Services on Youth Emergency Preparedness for first-grade level students in Yuba County schools. (video at 8:00)
  • Approve reappointment of James Purcell to the Plumas Lake Specific Plan Design Review Committee.

Other board and committee meetings on my calendar include:

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Strategic Planning Committee (agenda)
  • Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) Board of Directors meeting

Additional meetings on my calendar this week included a discussion about Plumas Lake with Yuba County Community Development, a California gubernatorial forum and reception, a CSAC reception and office tour, a meeting with a consultant working on the Plumas Lake Specific Plan and Yuba County General plan updates, an American Leadership Forum (ALF) Wilderness Picture Party, and the ALF September session.  There was also a Wheatland City Council meeting (agenda).

Community events on my calendar this week included the Plumas Lake Walking Moai.

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 9/15)

Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Consider a $650k Flood Risk Reduction grant for the City of Wheatland Stormwater Master Plan.
  • Consider a $400k Flood Risk Reduction grant for the Reclamation District 817 Bear River Setback Levee project.
  • Consider an additional $5M+ for other water supply and flood risk reduction grants.
  • Consider a $10k sponsorship for the National Pumpkin Weigh Off

Other board and committee meetings on my calendar include:

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Monthly Board Meeting (agenda)
  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) board meeting (agenda) [RCRC board meetings also include board meetings for the Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) and the Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include aagenda review for the next board of supervisors meeting, a special Yuba Water Agency board meeting, and the RCRC annual conference in Tahoe.  Due to the conference or other conflicts, I’ll miss the NACo Rural Action Caucus, the NACo West Region monthly meeting, and a Yuba Sutter Transit board meeting (agenda).

For anyone interested in attending, Wednesday is a Yuba County Planning Commission meeting (agenda) and Thursday is an OPUD Board of Directors meeting (agenda).

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, the PL Flag Football Opening Ceremonies, and possibly Yuba Sutter Boots, Buckles, and Brews in Marysville.
