My Recent Activities (Week of 5/25)
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Transportation, Flood Protection & Infrastructure: Approve Measure D transportation funding allocations, a maintenance agreement for the South Olivehurst Pump Station, and contracts for countywide traffic sign upgrades and retro-reflectivity improvements.
- Health, Childcare & Community Services: Consider agreements supporting healthcare enrollment services through Ampla Health and Peach Tree Healthcare, approve childcare planning priorities, and allocate funding toward regional health and social impact programs.
- Economic Development & County Operations: Approve an operations agreement with E Street MX, a lease agreement with the Beale Aero Club, and updates to Board committee appointments and public defender services agreements.
- Community Presentations & Recognition: Receive updates from the Commission on Aging, Yuba-Sutter Arts Council, and a presentation regarding local charter school development; recognize the Yuba River Endowment through a Board proclamation.
- Regional & Legislative Actions: Consider a resolution supporting Assembly Joint Resolution 23 related to the formation of a new state and review additional local governance and funding items.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a Yuba County General Plan Update workshop in Plumas Lake, a Greater Sacramento Major League pitch press event, and a farewell reception for Dr. Luu. There was a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday night, and you can find the agenda here.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba County on the Horizon Dinner, the Yuba Area Bicycle Advocates (YABA) spine ride, and a YABA celebration for “May is Bike Month”.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 6/1)
Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- FY 2026-27 Budget & Staffing Plan: Consider adoption of Yuba Water’s proposed FY 2026-27 budget and an updated personnel allocation chart that would reduce or leave unfunded 10 vacant positions as part of the agency’s response to the Colgate Penstock incident.
- Penstock Recovery & Strategic Priorities: Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider a 2026 Strategic Plan Addendum that prioritizes recovery efforts, critical operations, workforce stability, and financial sustainability.
- Agricultural & Community Water Infrastructure Grants: Consider reallocating existing grant funds to complete two water infrastructure projects: Hallwood Irrigation Company’s Flow Control Automation Upgrade and Camptonville Community Services District’s Chlorine Contact Tank Project.
- Workforce Recruitment & Retention: Hold the agency’s annual public hearing on vacancies, recruitment, and retention efforts. Yuba Water currently reports 113 employees and 5 vacancies.
- Agency Operations & Governance: Consider surplus vehicle disposal, continue emergency contracting authority, and approve a modified time and location for the June 16 Board meeting at the Yuba Water Power Systems facilities in Oregon House.
