My Recent Activities (Week of 6/8)

Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • FY 2026-27 Recommended Budget – Receive and discuss the County’s proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, outlining priorities, services, and planned investments across County departments. (link to recommended budget and link to presentation [starts at 2:18:00])
  • Sanctuary Jurisdiction Resolution – Consider a resolution expressly rejecting “Sanctuary Jurisdiction” policies and affirming lawful cooperation with federal authorities. (watch my comments here [starts at 1:42:53] and read them here.
  • Climate Adaptation Capital Improvement Plan – Consider adoption of a plan identifying infrastructure investments needed to help Yuba County prepare for and adapt to future climate-related challenges.
  • Public Safety & Emergency Response – Receive a quarterly update from public safety departments and consider continuing the local emergency declaration related to the Yuba Water Agency Colgate Penstock failure.
  • Health & Human Services Programs – Consider agreements supporting bridge housing for CalWORKs families, residential substance use treatment services, and youth recreation opportunities through the OPUD pool.
  • Community Recognition & Local Investments – Receive a presentation from the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) and consider District Priority funding requests supporting environmental education and youth soccer programs in District 4.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a training on media interviews, a meeting with our regional representative from Senator Pedilla’s office, a Live Well Board of Directors lunch, a Plumas Lake Specific Plan Update community workshop, a dinner meeting with a constituent and restaurant owner, a meeting with Supervisor Elect Webb, a meeting with a constitutent about a community center in Plumas Lake, a meeting with a boy scout about some safety concerns, and the change of command ceremony for the 1RS at Beale AFB.   On Tuesday night, there was a Wheatland City Council meeting, and you can find the agenda here.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 6/15)

Tuesday is a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Colgate Penstock Recovery Efforts – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repairs remain underway.
  • Employee Compensation & Benefits – Consider adopting the FY 2026-27 Salary Schedule and updating employee health insurance contribution and benefits policies.
  • Board Governance & Policy Updates – Review and update several Board policies, including staff interaction guidelines, training requirements, director compensation and expense reimbursement, ethics policies, and Board procedures.
  • Agency Operations & Workforce Management – Consider policy updates intended to align agency operations, employee benefits, and governance practices with current organizational needs.

  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Special Executive Committee Meeting (agenda)
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)
  • Yuba Sutter Transit Board of Directors Meeting (agenda)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include two change of command ceremonies at Beale AFB, one for the 9th Civil Engineering Squadron, and one for the 9th Reconnaissance Wing commander; a National Association of Counties (NACo) West Region monthly meeting; and a SACOG tour of housing in Placerville.  On Thursday night, there is an OPUD board meeting, and you can find the agenda here.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai.

  • Every Monday, 6:30 am – 7:15 am:  Plumas Lake Walking Moai, Eufay Wood Park (north parking lot)
  • July 4th, 9 am:  Plumas Lake Bike / Trike / Wagon / Wheelchair 4th of July Parade, Eufay Wood Park (north parking lot)
  • July 4th, 10 am 0 3 pm:  Wheatland 4th of July BBQ, Wheatland Community Center (101 C St)
  • August 15th:  Plumas Lake Block Party at Eufay Wood Park
