My Recent Activities (Week of 8/3)
Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Update and review of emergency contracting actions concerning the Colgate Penstock incident, and Board determination that there is a need to continue the emergency action.
- Public employee performance evaluation involving the General Manager
Other board and committee meetings on my calendar include:
- Board of Supervisors Annual Budget Workshop (all day Wednesday & Thursday)
- Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Land Use and Natural Resources (LUNR) Committee (agenda)
- California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Tribal Workgroup
- Nothern California Water Association (NCWA) Board Meeting
Unfortunately, the Budget Workshop conflicted with the SACOG, CSAC, and NCWA meetings, so I was unable to attend them. Additional meetings on my calendar this week included the Maddy Institute 12th Annual Sacramento Reception, lunch with Yuba County CDSA leadership, a welcome reception for new Beale commanders hosted by the BMLC, a meeting with MJUSD trustee Chong Yang, lunch with SACOG executive director James Corless, and a presentation to the CSAC president on Yuba Water Agency.
Community events on my calendar this week included the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and Whatland National Night Out.
Looking ahead to this week (Week of 8/10)
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here. Highlights include:
- Flock Camera Presentation – Receive a presentation from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department regarding the County’s Flock Safety camera program following recent public interest and community questions.
- Economic Development – Consider an agreement with the Yuba Applied Research Center (YARC) to provide economic development and grant services for Yuba County.
- Infrastructure & Public Works – Consider agreements for construction management of the Olivehurst Roadway Climate Resiliency Project, complete a countywide building systems upgrade project, and authorize exterior improvements to the Yuba County Courthouse.
- Health & Community Services – Consider agreements supporting oral health grant funding, CalWORKs child care services, and a lease extension for the Scott Center.
- Public Safety & Local Government – Consider a new three-year CAL FIRE dispatch agreement and a request to consolidate the City of Marysville’s Nov

- Sierra Sac Valley EMS JPA (SSVEMS) Board Meeting
Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an American Leadership Forum (ALF) event, a SACOG agenda review meeting, a meeting with a constituent, and a Hard Rock Development Update meeting. On Tuesday night, there is a Wheatland City Council meeting, and you can find the agenda here.
Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, the Feather River Park Community Input Workshop, a Yuba Sutter Chamber Showcase for Papa’s Coffee, and the Plumas Lake Block Party.
What about July 6th to August 2nd?
You may have noticed that I didn’t post any “Week in Review” updates during most of July. That’s because for 3+ weeks, I was on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation in Europe. We got to spend a day (or a few days) in each of these amazing places: Rome & Naples, Italy; Santorini & Mykonos, Greece; Kusadasi, Turkey; Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Stockholm, Sweden; and Edinburgh, Scotland.

- August 25th, 6 pm: Assembly District 3 & Congressional District 4 Candidate Forum at Yuba County Government Center (FB event)
- October 3rd: Plumas Lake Oktoberfest at Eufay Wood Park
- October 17th, morning: Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
- October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm: Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village
