My Recent Activities (Week of 8/10)

Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Flock Camera Presentation – Receive a presentation from the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department regarding the County’s Flock Safety camera program following recent public interest and community questions.  Watch it here, starts at 2:25.
  • Economic Development – Consider an agreement with the Yuba Applied Research Center (YARC) to provide economic development and grant services for Yuba County.
  • Infrastructure & Public Works – Consider agreements for construction management of the Olivehurst Roadway Climate Resiliency Project, complete a countywide building systems upgrade project, and authorize exterior improvements to the Yuba County Courthouse.
  • Health & Community Services – Consider agreements supporting oral health grant funding, CalWORKs child care services, and a lease extension for the Scott Center.
  • Public Safety & Local Government – Consider a new three-year CAL FIRE dispatch agreement and a request to consolidate the City of Marysville’s Nov

  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) SGMA Ad Hoc Meeting
  • Sierra Sac Valley EMS JPA (SSVEMS) Board Meeting (agenda)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an American Leadership Forum (ALF) event, meetings with multiple constituents, lunch with the Yuba County CDSA Assistant Director, and a CSAC/RCRC briefing on the Governor’s Wildfire Liability Reform Package.   On Tuesday night, there was a Wheatland City Council meeting, and you can find the agenda here.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai, the Feather River Park Community Input Workshop, and the Plumas Lake Block Party.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 8/17)

Tuesday will be a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Levee Monitoring Research – Receive a presentation on an innovative research partnership with the UC Berkeley Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) exploring the use of LiDAR and other sensing technologies to monitor levee movement and improve long-term flood protection.
  • Colgate Penstock Recovery – Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority while repair work progresses.
  •  Agency Operations – Consider declaring an aging agency-owned forklift as surplus and authorizing its disposal.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a lunch meeting with Yuba County CDSA leadership, a Constitutional Candidate Conversation event hosted by the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), a CSAC Board of Directors reception, a catch-up meeting with the RCRC policy advocate Eric Will, a SACOG Transit MOU meeting, and a National Association of Counties (NACo) West Region monthly meeting.

On Wednesday night, there is a Yuba County Planning Commission meeting, and you can find the agenda here.  On Thursday night, there is an OPUD board of directors meeting, and you can find that agenda here.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and opening ceremonies for the Yuba Sutter Stand Down.

 

Announcements & Events in the 4th District

  • Every Monday, 6:30 am – 7:15 am:  Plumas Lake Walking Moai, Eufay Wood Park (north parking lot)
  • August 25th, 6 pm:  Assembly District 3 & Congressional District 4 Candidate Forum at Yuba County Government Center (FB event)
  • August 28th:  Holiday Market Plumas Lake Grand Opening
  • October 3rd:  Plumas Lake Oktoberfest at Eufay Wood Park
  • October 17th, morning:  Plumas Lake Community Cleanup at PL Park & Ride
  • October 31st, 12 pm to 3 pm:  Wheatland Trunk or Treat at Settlers Village

*The picture is a collage of various things from my week:  Pouring beer with my Rotary club at the Plumas Lake Block party, in Sierra County for a leadership event, attending the Feather River Parks public information workshop hosted by CA State Parks, South Yuba County Sunrise Rotary installing a place for the new community Christmas tree, attending a Sierra Sac Valley EMS board meeting, and grabbing some flowers and other items from the Plumas Lake Farmers market.
