Week of 10/17/22

My Recent Activities

Last week was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting. Essential items included a presentation on the 2022 California legislative session and approving a loan agreement with OPUD and the City of Wheatland to support wastewater service expansion and regionalization in south Yuba County.  I attended the DWR Drought to Flood Symposium, where speakers and panels discussed building resilience for California’s climate extremes, which we anticipate will oscillate between even more extreme dryer and wetter conditions than we’ve historically experienced.

I spent most of the second half of the week at the CaLAFCO conference, where we discussed the role of local LAFCOs in ensuring local government services provided by counties, cities, and special districts are assigned to the most appropriate local agency for that service. I took a break from the conference to attend the monthly SACOG board meeting, where we adopted a Racial Equity Action Plan and received a presentation on the success of Envision Utah in regional transportation and land use planning in the Salt Lake Valley (https://youtu.be/1h5_R3aj4ks?t=4412)

After returning from the conference on Friday afternoon, I attended multiple community events over the weekend.

Looking ahead to this week

Tuesday is a Board of Supervisors meeting. I’m excited about a few items, including receiving a Quarterly Development Update, releasing a bid to create an EV Charging Master Plan, and adopting a resolution to participate in Operation Green Light in support of our veterans.

In addition, I’ll be chairing the annual SACOG Unmet Transit Needs Hearing for Yuba-Sutter, attending the 2022 Water Summit hosted by the Water Education Foundation, participating in a First 5 Commission meeting, attending an RCRC kick-off related to broadband grants, attending a Sheriff’s Department Citizens Academy graduation ceremony, and a few additional events/meetings.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you!
