My Recent Activities
Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency board of directors meeting. Here are a few highlights from the agenda:
- Received informational updates on our progress with the Yuba-Feather Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO) pilot program, Atmospheric River forecast improvement research, and the update to the New Bullards Bar Water Control Manual as they relate to the ARC Spillway project (link to the presentation, starts at 5:18)
- Reviewed financial statements and details for January 2025.
- Adopted Resolution No. 2025-05 finding that the Daguerre Point Nature-Like Fishway Project is within the scope of the Statewide Restoration General Order Program EIR, taking related actions under CEQA, and approving the Project and authorizing execution of the Yuba River Resilience Initiative Agreement.
- Approved several infrastructure grants to local irrigation districts and a sponsorship for the Association of California Water Agencies 2025 conferences.
I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors meeting (agenda & video recording) [There are several items I think the public will be most interested in, including Unmet Transit Needs Findings, approval of State Funding Program and 2025 Blueprint Update and Upcoming Milestones.]
- Yuba Sutter Transit Board of Directors meeting (agenda)
- Blue Zones Yuba Sutter Steering Committee
Additional meetings on my calendar included agenda setting for the next board of supervisors meeting, a Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) meeting with Hard Rock and Enterprise Rancheria, a development update meeting with Hard Rock and Enterprise Rancheria, a launch event for the GSEC #DoGreaterSacramento campaign, and a SACOG welcome reception for new board members. There are also Olivehurst Public Utility District (OPUD) Board of Directors (agenda) and Yuba County Planning Commission (agenda) meetings this week. Both meetings likely have items of interest for District 4 residents, so I suggest you check the agendas for additional details. I attended the OPUD board meeting to speak in favor of OPUD signing onto a charter to establish a county-wide parks and recreation working group made up of the owners and operators of recreational assets in Yuba County (see the charter for the workgroup here and watch the video from the meeting here, starting at 34:26)
This week, community events on my calendar include a retirement celebration reception for Bob Harlan.
On Friday, I head to DC for the National Association of Counties (NACo) annual legislative conference. In addition to typical general and breakout sessions, I’ll participate in the all-day Transportation Policy Steering Committee meeting, the Rural Action Caucus meeting, the West Region caucus, and the California caucus meeting. On the final day of the conference, we have time to meet with our representatives on Capitol Hill, and I’m working to set up appointments with the offices of Congressmen LaMalfa and Kiley and Senator Schiff.
Looking ahead to this week (and the next)
