My Recent Activities
Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting. Here are a few highlights from the agenda:
- Receive information on the Beale Air Force Base Air Show on June 7 and 8, 2025. (video at 37:00)
- Receive updates from the Sacramento Area Council of Government (SACOG) on the 2025 Blueprint project. (video at 49:00)
- Receive a presentation from the Code Enforcement Department regarding updates. (video at 1:48:00)
- Approve subrecipient agreement with Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) for the East Linda Gateway: Lindhurst Corridor Revitalization Project
I had several other board and committee meetings on my calendar, including:
- California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Housing Land Use & Transportation (HLT) Committee Leadership Meeting
- Yuba Sutter Arts Board of Directors meeting (I missed due to a conflict)
Additional meetings on my calendar included a webinar with Climate Scientist Dr. Danial Swain, a board workshop with the three south county school districts about consolidation, a meeting with the Yuba Suter Transit executive director, a hearing with the Little Hover Commission on California’s electric costs, a Salmon Homecoming Regional Collaboration call, and a Rural Counties Representatives of California (RCRC) Legislative Call-in session.
You can find the financial report on the potential consolidation of WUHSD, WSD, and PLESD here and the associated presentation here. I was very surprised that due to the way the state allocates funding, there would be a ~$6M decrease in annual revenue to the districts if they consolidated. While potential cost savings would make up some of that, it would still be a net negative financial impact of $2M to $4M annually. All three districts posted an overview of the process and next steps on their social media, here is the one from PLESD.
This week, community events on my calendar included a black-tie, red-carpet movie premier of No Address. I found it to be a very good, and powerful, movie about homelessness. Thank you for the invite Daysha Trujillo and for your dedication to helping homeless youth in our region.
On Friday, I headed to DC for the National Association of Counties (NACo) annual legislative conference. So far, I’ve In addition to typical general and breakout sessions, I’ll participate in the all-day Transportation Policy Steering Committee meeting, the Rural Action Caucus meeting, and the California caucus meeting. On the final day of the conference, we have time to meet with our representatives on Capitol Hill, and I’m working to set up appointments with the offices of Congressmen LaMalfa and Kiley and Senator Schiff.
Looking ahead to this week
