My Recent Activities (Week of 5/18)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Colgate Penstock Emergency Response:  Review ongoing emergency contracting actions related to the Colgate Penstock incident and consider continuing emergency authority for repair work.
  • Yuba River Resilience Initiative – Salmon Pilot Funding:  Consider approving up to $500,000 in grant funding to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for ongoing spring-run Chinook salmon pilot activities, with future optional funding authority.
  • Emerald Cove Marina Mobile Food Vendor Pilot Program:  Receive a presentation on a proposed pilot program for mobile food vendors at Emerald Cove Marina and consider authorizing an agreement amendment.
  • Annual Dam Safety Update:  Receive the annual update from Yuba Water’s Chief Dam Safety Engineer regarding dam safety and related infrastructure oversight.
  • Labor & Legal Matters:  Consider extending the IBEW Local 1245 side letter agreement and hold closed session discussions related to anticipated litigation involving the Colgate Penstock incident.

  • California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Housing, Land Use, and Transportation (HLT) Committee
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors meeting (agenda)
  • California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors meeting [as alternate]

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include the CSAC legislative conference in Sacramento (including multiple sessions and networking opportunities), a breakfast meeting between SACOG and Valley Vision, a meeting of SACOG board members who are also board members on transit agencies, a National Association of Counties (NACo) West Region monthly meeting, and a special CSAC legislative meeting.  There is an OPUD board meeting on Thursday night, and you can find the agenda here.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and Freebirds Opening Night.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 5/25)

Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Transportation, Flood Protection & Infrastructure:  Approve Measure D transportation funding allocations, a maintenance agreement for the South Olivehurst Pump Station, and contracts for countywide traffic sign upgrades and retro-reflectivity improvements.
  • Health, Childcare & Community Services:  Consider agreements supporting healthcare enrollment services through Ampla Health and Peach Tree Healthcare, approve childcare planning priorities, and allocate funding toward regional health and social impact programs.
  • Economic Development & County Operations:  Approve an operations agreement with E Street MX, a lease agreement with the Beale Aero Club, and updates to Board committee appointments and public defender services agreements.
  • Community Presentations & Recognition:  Receive updates from the Commission on Aging, Yuba-Sutter Arts Council, and a presentation regarding local charter school development; recognize the Yuba River Endowment through a Board proclamation.
  • Regional & Legislative Actions:  Consider a resolution supporting Assembly Joint Resolution 23 related to the formation of a new state and review additional local governance and funding items.

  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Executive Committee Meeting
  • Yuba Sutter Foodbank board meeting

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an NCWA conservation task force meeting, a Yuba County General Plan Update workshop in Plumas Lake, a Greater Sacramento Major League pitch press event, a monthly RCRC legislative briefing, and a farwell reception for Dr. Luu.  There is a Wheatland City Council meeting on Tuesday night, and you can find the agenda here.

  • Every Monday, 6:30 am – 7:15 am:  Plumas Lake Walking Moai, Eufay Wood Park (north parking lot)
  • May 27th, 6 pm – 7:30 pm:  Yuba County General Plan Update meeting at Riverside Meadows in PL
  • May 30th, 8 am – 12 pm:  Wheatland Community Cleanup Day at Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm
  • May 30th, 8 am – 11 am:  Wheatland Shred Event at Settlers Village (FB event)
  • June 3rd, 6 pm – 7:30 pm:  Plumas Lake Specific Plan Update meeting at Riverside Meadows in PL
  • August 15th:  Plumas Lake Block Party at Eufay Wood Park
