My Recent Activities (Week of 4/20)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.

  • Review of financial statements and details for General & Power Systems Fund through February 2026 and consider approval of amended FY2026 budget.
  • Update and review of emergency contracting actions concerning the Colgate Penstock incident and Board determination that there is a need to continue the emergency action under Public Contract Code section 22050, subsection (c)(2).

Other board and committee meetings on my calendar included:

  • Northern California Water Association (NCWA) Board of Directors meeting
  • Yuba Sutter Foodbank Board of Directors meeting

I was in DC for the first part of the week for the 2026 Cap-to-Cap program.  I joined with almost 500 community and businss leadersfrom the six-county Sacramento area in DC to advocate for our region before our congressional representatives and relevant federal agencies.  I advocated in the transportation and flood risk reduction policy areas (see specific details here), but also participated in a session hosted by the Civic Amanities team called “Better Together: Regional Visions and Planning for Collaborative and Connected Civic Amenities,” where I discussed the master plan for the area adjacent to Hard Rock.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week (after returning from DC) include the NCWA Day at the Ranch and a Zoom between local elected officials and gubernatorial candidate Matt Mahan.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba County Educator of the Year Dinner.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 4/27)

Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • South County Infrastructure Investment:  Consider approving an agreement with the City of Wheatland and OPUD for a County loan of up to $10 millionto support the South County Infrastructure Project.
  • Public Safety, Grants & Community Health Programs:  Approve agreements and grant applications supporting law enforcement operations (DEA partnership), pedestrian & bicycle safety funding, and school-based wellness programs.
  • Infrastructure, Parks & Climate Planning: Move forward with projects including the Friendship Park Beautification Project, apply for funding for the Loma Rica Road Rehabilitation Project, and approve a contract for the County’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan.
  • Budget Adjustments & County Operations:  Consider several mid-year budget adjustments across departments (Probation, Sheriff, County Counsel, and others) to address operational needs and project funding.
  • Governance, Appointments & Community Recognition:  Make appointments to boards and commissions, recognize community members and organizations, and receive departmental updates, including code enforcement.

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a meeting with OPUD staff to talk about the Plumas Lake community park, the “We’re Not Scared! We’re Prepared!” presentation at Wheatland Elementary, a tour of the 4DIFY 3D printed home site in West Linda with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), the American Leadership Forum (ALF) Class XXX & XXXI graduation dinner, and Yes to Startups presentations.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Plumas Lake Walking Moai and the GSCA groundbreaking in Glenn County.
