Weeks of 04/27/26 & 05/04/26

My Recent Activities (Week of 4/27)

Tuesday was a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • South County Infrastructure Investment:  Approved an agreement with the City of Wheatland and OPUD for a County loan of up to $10 millionto support the South County Infrastructure Project. (see below for more details)
  • Public Safety, Grants & Community Health Programs:  Approve agreements and grant applications supporting law enforcement operations (DEA partnership), pedestrian & bicycle safety funding, and school-based wellness programs.
  • Infrastructure, Parks & Climate Planning: Move forward with projects including the Friendship Park Beautification Project, apply for funding for the Loma Rica Road Rehabilitation Project, and approve a contract for the County’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan.
  • Budget Adjustments & County Operations:  Consider several mid-year budget adjustments across departments (Probation, Sheriff, County Counsel, and others) to address operational needs and project funding.
  • Governance, Appointments & Community Recognition:  Make appointments to boards and commissions, recognize community members and organizations, and receive departmental updates, including code enforcement.

I want to highlight one of the most significant items from this week’s Board of Supervisors meeting.  On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve a $10M loan to close the funding gap for the South County Infrastructure (wastewater regionalization) project. This ensures we take advantage of a $75M state grant, prevents huge rate increases for the City of Wheatland, and benefits ratepayers in Plumas Lake and Olivehurst. Equally important, it lays the foundation for future development in South Yuba County, ultimately supporting almost 10,000 jobs, significantly increasing tax revenue, and enhancing local dining, shopping, and entertainment options.  Thank you to my fellow board members and thank you to our partners! Listen to my comments (starts at 1:04:34)

Other board and committee meetings on my calendar included:

  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Executive Committee Meeting (agenda)
  • Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) Executive Committee Meeting (agenda)
  • Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA) Executive Committee Meeting (agenda)
  • Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) SIGMA Ad Hoc Committee

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include a meeting with OPUD staff to talk about the Plumas Lake community park, the “We’re Not Scared! We’re Prepared!” presentation at Wheatland Elementary, a tour of the 4DIFY 3D printed home site in West Linda with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), the American Leadership Forum (ALF) Class XXX & XXXI graduation dinner, and Yes to Startups presentations.
