My Recent Activities (Week of 5/4)

Tuesday was a Yuba Water Agency Board of Directors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Colgate Penstock Emergency Repairs:  Review ongoing emergency contracting actions and consider continuing emergency authority as repair work progresses.
  • Construction Authority Agreement Update:  Consider amendments to the Joint Powers Agreement with Yuba County to expand construction pricing methods and improve project delivery flexibility.
  • Water Supply & Operations (Urgency Change Petition):  Consider adopting a resolution approving a temporary urgency change petition to manage water operations under current conditions.
  • Agricultural Water Efficiency Projects:  Receive an update on multiple Hallwood Irrigation Company projects improving system reliability, reducing water loss, and modernizing flow control.

  • Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA JPIA) Board Meeting (agenda)
  • National Association of Counties (NACo) Transportation Policy Committee meeting
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Land Use & Natural Resources Committee (LUNR) meeting (agenda)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include an ACWA JPIA membership summit, an ACWA JPIA reception, lunch with Yuba County CDSA leadership, a Yuba County workplace violence training, a Northern California Water Association  (NCWA) open house, coffee with a constituent, a SACOG social media training session, and the Yes to Startups final presentations and awards.

Community events on my calendar this week included the Friendship Park Groundbreaking in West Linda and the Spring Fling Mother’s Day Event in Plumas Lake.

 

Looking ahead to this week (Week of 5/11)

Tuesday is a Yuba County Board of Supervisors meeting, and a link to the agenda is here.  Highlights include:

  • Health, Mental Health & Community Services:  Consider agreements supporting opioid prevention, school-based family services, temporary public health officer coverage, and receive a quarterly update from Health & Human Services.
  • Public Safety & Law Enforcement:  Approve an agreement to provide supplemental law enforcement coverage for Wheatland, renew juvenile housing agreements, and consider funding for Sheriff operations and fleet needs.
  • Energy, Infrastructure & County Operations:  Hold a public hearing on proposed energy efficiency improvements through PG&E on-bill financing and consider operational agreements, contracts, and capital asset updates.
  • Community Investment & Local Partnerships:  Consider district priority funding allocations supporting children’s oral health services, local history programs, and community cleanup efforts.
  • Recognition & Community Updates:  Recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, ALS Awareness Month, and community leaders and organizations, while receiving updates from SAY Love Sutter & Yuba and County departments.

  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) meeting (agenda)

Additional meetings on my calendar this week include reading books two second graders with Rotary, a SACOG agenda review meeting, an interview with CBS13 about golf carts in Plumas Lake, a meeting with a constituent, the Yuba Sutter Food Bank Community Conversation lunch, a session about leading change in the age of AI, lunch with some Yuba Sutter leaders, and speaking at McKenny College and Career Day.  There is also a Wheatland City Council meeting this week on Tuesday evening. The agenda includes appointing someone to fill the council seat left vacant by Mayor Coe’s passing.

Community events on my calendar this week include the Yuba Sutter Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony, the Adventist Memorial Butterfly Release, the Wheatland Pet Parade, a meet & greet with Congressman Thompson in Plumas Lake, and possibly the CalAsian Pacific Chamber of Commerce Nightmarket in Sacramento.

  • May 16th, 9:30 am:  Wheatland Pet Parade in Downtown Wheatland
  • May 16th, 2 pm:  Plumas Lake Meet & Greet with Congressman Thompson (Dry Creek Park – 1499 Minories Dr)
  • May 27th, 6 pm – 7:30 pm:  Yuba County General Plan Update meeting at Riverside Meadows in PL
  • May 30th, 8 am – 11 am:  Wheatland Shred Event at Settlers Village (FB event)
  • June 3rd, 6 pm – 7:30 pm:  Plumas Lake Specific Plan Update meeting at Riverside Meadows in PL
